New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil) Level 6 is listed on the Immediate Skills Shortage List (ISSL)
New Zealand is in need of qualified engineers. Engineers topped the list of the hardest jobs for New Zealand employers to fill in a new survey by recruitment firm ManpowerGroup, which found 59 per cent of employers are struggling to find skilled workers. That's a lot!
If you have students who are interested in studying engineering in NZ this is a great time to do so. Unitec's New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil) is a recognised qualification, both with IPENZ (Institute of Professional Engineers NZ) and also on the ISSL.
We have many students pathway through the Diploma into the Bachelors and walk into jobs.
Meet Jasbinder Singh, India
"I moved from Dubai to New Zealand to attend high school in Auckland. During my last year at high school I was a bit confused about which study path to choose, medicine or engineering, I was leaning towards engineering as maths and physics were two of my favourite subjects.
After much research into the different institutions in New Zealand, I knew Unitec would give me the practical experience I wanted to get into engineering industry compared to any other institutes in Auckland. I decided to enrol in the Diploma in Engineering (Civil) at Unitec and carried onto the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and finished my studies in the end of 2013.
I am currently working as a Compliance Auditor. I love my everyday job as it allows me to interact with the community on regular basis. Every day is not the same and brings its own challenges. It's a great feeling when a project finishes and I can say I was part of the team who constructed it!!"
